Dairy products account for about 12% of total U.S farm income from all farm commodities. In 1989, cash farm receipts from dairy products totaled 19.4 billion, which ranked it second only to cattle and calves with 36.7 billion. That same year, feed crops and poultry/eggs followed dairy products in cash receipts with 16.7 and 15.3 billion, respectively.
