Using organic materials as core components in building applications is all part of modern sustainable development. Those applications might include, for example, using geosynthetics for foundations, synthetic materials for distribution networks, polymer concrete or polymer cement concrete for joining and repairs, bitumens for roads or waterproofing, rubber for joining structures subjected to dynamic stresses, industrial high performance wood for light structures or even works of art, composites to realize innovative shaping structures, special admixtures that allow concrete technology to reach new levels of performance, and so on—today the list is virtually endless.
